Underlanding.com has the inside scoop on a hot new trend in the overland community. Recently this upswing for Overlanding on the water, or “sailing”, has caused a lot of controversy where the divide for defining Overlanding ends and being a seaman begins. We caught up with Eric Gilroy for the latest info from the leading edge of Overlanding on the water.
Eric -“ I first got into sailing after insurance became too expensive for my Toyota FJ cruiser. If you get one DUI insurance companies, take advantage of you and make it impossible to do my favorite thing over landing. I was waiting for my court date I was spending some time down local dock. I met a cool bra with a 25 foot retractable keelboat. I asked him what did he do to be so lucky to be able to drink beer at noon? Don’t you worry about getting pulled over? He told me “that’s the best part about sailing! You can drink and nobody says anything.” That is when I realized sailing is for me. You get all of the benefits of spending a lot of money on a vehicle no one else will ever ever appreciate as much as you do. plus I can do things like bolt on solar panels to show off your off grid lifestyle and also run your beer fridge. I think the best part about sailing is that just like my FJ I can make sure everyone is aware that I’m an overlander. “
Underlanding.com hopes that Eric has a beautiful sunset evening remembering, a red sunset at night sailers delight.
