If you have spent anytime in outdoors taking your vehicle to challenging terrain you know that it is impossible to go anywhere without a set of Maxxtrax’s orange traction matts. They are the 100% absolute most essential component of any overland or expedition vehicle. It’s safe to say at this point it is the one accessory that distinguishes an overland rig.
Underland Journal recently was able to try a set of these out on an overland trip into the mountains. It’s safe to say horseback travel is one of the OG’s of overlanding. We found it refreshing to see a new twist on opening up more access to those hard to reach spots where we can get the receipts for the insta. With sturdy plastic injection molding there is no doubt quality was the number one priority. There was great detail taken with perfecting the orange color. We appreciated that everyone else riding along on the trip knew that if we ran into some slippery area or sand that we could be counted on to pull them through.
The horse available at the time of this review was a bit on the older side. After a few minutes of riding down the established trail we decided to not add any unnecessary ware so we to the HorseTraxx off. Luckily we had them attached to the saddle bags were they were visible for everyone to see if there was an emergency.
9/10 – HorseTraxx orange color outshines the competition. They will look great on the side of your horse while your traversing the trail. We didn’t find it relevant that they were rated for a lightweight horse and we had them hanging on to our 1 ton horse’s saddle bags. What is important is that we have them mounted there for folks to see, just in case.
